Fellowship Trained- What does it mean?

A Fellowship is a formal training program for surgeons who want to specialize in a certain area of surgery. Surgeons enter fellowships after already finishing 5-7 years of general surgery training. These fellowships provide very intense and structured training. The surgeons who enter these programs are put through a strict set of requirements that they have to meet before they are allowed to graduate and receive their fellowship trained certification. Most fellowships are an additional 1-2 years of formal surgical training. Dr. Frenzel has completed two fully accredited fellowships, one in Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery and another in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
